The Magnificent 7
The year 2020 was unique in many ways and most everything was impacted by COVID 19. The Indy 500 was re-scheduled from its usual May date to late August. Then, on the fateful day of August 4, 2020, the unthinkable was announced; the Greatest Spectacle in Racing was going to be run without fans. That meant that the normal PAIN Tour contingency of over 30 people making the journey to the hallowed ground of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway would not happen in 2020, or would it?
In order to understand the PAIN Tour, you need to know its history. Back in 2002, two people took a journey to witness the pageantry surrounding the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race. That trip was life changing. These two people eventually became The Director and Assistant Director to the greatest Pennsylvania based fan group of the Indy 500. The PAIN Tour has not missed an Indy 500 since its inception and the director was determine to make sure we weren’t going to miss it this year. It was decided that seven people would make the journey and once again be at the track during the 500 mile race. The 19-year streak of the “Greatest Spectacle in Tailgating” was not going to be broken simply because of the failure of a city government. Some of the seven flew into town while others drove. These people, joined forces with the most prominent Indycar podcast duo – The Fast Cars, Fast Girls to celebrate and party all that is the Indy 500. Those PAIN Tour members who made the journey into Indianapolis and witnessed the 2020 Indy 500 live and in person, shall forever be known as The Magnificent Seven.
